Apologies for my absence. The weather here lately has been so hot, so sticky, so cloying that I haven’t felt like doing much of anything besides laying on the couch in between two fans. And then we’ve been to Sea Isle City where I meant to read but wasn’t able to because we spent all of our time either in the ocean or walking along the beach trying not to step on jellyfish, and now we’re leaving for Florida today. We’re staying longer and it will be a less frenetic experience. The idea of reading on the beach in the sun is an attractive one. Hopefully I’ll have something more to write soon.

Although I shouldn’t’ve bought all of these books home after my latest sojourn to my parents’, I couldn’t resist. All of the history books are in case I try to start writing my novel again. I’m hoping I can do it.
Because I’m a student on a strict budget, I told myself I wouldn’t make any personal purchases, because I was dropping a lot of money on my boyfriend’s birthday present (a new messenger bag) but Brickbat Books is right next to the bike shop where we were picking it up, and he was late so I went to browse through the store, and then there were all of these lovely books, and I finally saw a poetry collection by Katia Kapovich in person, and they had this copy of the new Penguin classics clothbound edition, and well, I don’t know how it happened but when I left the store, my bank account was a little lighter and I had these two new beauties in my hands…!
